The brotherhood of Saint Loup

The Brotherhood of Saint Loup is a cultural association of general interest, governed by the 1901 law, with the goal of establishing, promoting, and organizing events dedicated to the historical and spiritual heritage of France, and more specifically the Centre-Val de Loire region. It was founded following the success of the “Jubilee of Saint Loup” organized by the parish of Saint-Jean-de-Braye in June 2023, on the occasion of the 1450th anniversary of the birth and the 1400th anniversary of the death of Saint Loup, the patron saint of the town. It is made up of volunteers dedicated to supporting the large-scale events it produces, and is open to anyone wishing to get involved in these major projects.

Father Julien dumont

Parish priest of Saint-Jean-de-Braye, actively involved in the community as a volunteer firefighter, he is the founder and president of the Brotherhood of Saint Loup. Passionate about history and aware of the major role culture plays in touching hearts and souls, he is the driving force behind the Jubilee of Saint Loup in 2023, which he carried out with his parish. Building on this success, he, along with his board of directors, decided to launch a new spectacular project in tribute to Joan of Arc: Joan, the Show.

In 2023, Father Julien founded the association “Jubilé de Saint Loup” (which would later become the Brotherhood of Saint Loup) to organize a large week of festivities celebrating Saint Loup, the protector of the town. For the occasion, the Bastille Saint Loup, the very place of the saint’s birth, was opened to the public, and the association organized a Merovingian fair and an outdoor walking performance along nearly 1 km of route, depicting 800 years of French history. This show attracted more than 3,200 spectators over 5 days of performance, reaching 80% of the maximum capacity, and required the generosity of numerous donors to raise €100,000 in donations to fund this grand spectacle.
